RSRP conducted a meeting on February 9 to explore areas of cooperation with Gosatomnadzor (GAN), a regulatory body of Belarus for nuclear and radiation safety. The discussions focused on identifying areas where RSRP could be helpful to GAN in strengthening regulatory support of radiation sources. Continuing consultations will focus, among other, on the program review, sources registry, and inspection training. RSRP is looking forward to welcome GAN of Belarus into the working group of the Former Soviet Union countries that have participated in the program since 2001.
RSRP conducted meetings with the Department of Nuclear and Radiation Safety (Vasil Gedevanishvili, NRSD manager) and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia (Maia Bitadze, deputy minister) during February 11-13 in Tbilisi. The meetings established the need to provide advisory support for the establishment of the independent agency based on the NRSD.
