The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Ministry of Health from Chile organized the Seminar of Health Authorities in the Region of Latin America and the Caribbean to Analyze the Implementation of the IAEA General Safety Requirements Part 3 — Radiation Protection and Safety of Radiation Sources: International Basic Safety Standards — with Regard to Medical Exposure. The event was held in Santiago, Chile, from March 23rd to 27th. New IAEA recommendations for patient protection were discussed and the overall status of Radiation Protection and Regulations in the medical field in Latin America & the Caribbean was analyzed. USNRC/AdSTM met with several country representatives to explore future RSRP collaboration aimed to enhance the safe use of ionizing radiation.
