RSRP contributes to the IAEA Conference on Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources in Abu Dhabi

RSRP country participants presented two topical papers and four posters at the conference in Abu Dhabi during October 27-31, 2013. The conference focused on member states’ progress in achieving the objectives of the Code of Conduct for Safe and Secure use of radiation sources, discussed issues associated with integration of safety and security, the approach to handling of disused sources, emergency response, and continuing efforts with orphan sources. The RSRP country papers covered the post graduate course on radiation protection in Panama and regulatory improvements in Rep. of Georgia. The four posters presented progress made in RSRP countries of Armenia, Moldova, Tajikistan, and Uganda on regulatory strengthening. The poster from Armenia presented information on Advanced Regulatory Information System (ARIS 1.5) recently released by the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center (Armenia) for implementation in the RSRP countries worldwide.
