Low Level Radioactive Waste Licensing

Purpose: 

To assist a regulatory body in developing a program for the licensing of the various phases of Low Level Radioactive Waste management with a focus on extended waste storage.

Scope: 

This workshop is customized to the needs and desires of the regulatory body and the conditions in the specific country where presented. Subjects covered include an overview of regulatory approaches to the oversight of extended waste storage operations, including subjects such as Quality Assurance; Source Term Development; Transportation and Packages; Physical Security; Inspection, Safety Case and Safety Assessments. Information to be reviewed during the licensing process are presented with suggestions on appropriate evaluation and resolution. Control of the generation of waste can also be covered. Virtual and in-person consultation by subject matter experts can be provided on specific technical and regulatory issues.
