Workshop with the Mauritania National Authority of Radiation Protection, Safety and Nuclear Security (ARSN): “Regulatory Licensing for Uranium Recovery Facilities”

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Radiation Source Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) delivered a workshop on Regulatory Licensing for Uranium Recovery Facilities to staff and managers of the Mauritania National Authority of Radiation Protection, Safety and Nuclear Security (ARSN).  The weeklong workshop from January 6–10, 2025, included multiple presentations and discussions on all regulatory aspects of uranium milling and uranium mill tailings management.  The workshop was also attended by representatives of Aura Energy, which is developing a uranium mining and processing project in Mauritania, as well as representatives from the Mauritanian Ministries of Environment, Industry, Health, and Hydraulics and Sanitation.
