On May 11, 12, 17 and 18, 2022, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Radiation Sources Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) delivered a virtual training seminar for Jordan on licensing and inspection of Cyclotron PET practices. The first session (May 11-12) focused on the “Cyclotron PET Licensing Process”, and provided an overview of the production of PET radioactive material and licensing; including PET radiopharmaceutical materials to be considered for the licensing of PET facilities, safety requirements for the design and construction of PET facilities, and the principles of shielding and other radiation protection safety measures. The second session (May 17 -18) focused on “Inspection of Cyclotron Operations” and provided an overview of the key aspects to target during an inspection and inspection best practices with the cyclotron in stand-by and in operational modes.
Seven (7) regulatory staff from Jordan’s Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission attended the seminar.
