Published on March 6, 2026

From March 2-6, 2026, the Radiological and Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARRN), Paraguay hosted a five-day workshop in Asuncion focused on the Advanced Regulatory Information System (xARIS), organized under the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Radiation Sources Regulatory Partnership. The workshop was conducted by Advanced Systems Technology and Management, Inc. expert Grigol Basilia and supported ARRN in strengthening its regulatory information management capabilities and establishing the new xARIS platform.

The primary outcome of the workshop was the upgrade from ARIS 2.5 to the new and improved xARIS platform. The upgraded platform provides enhanced capabilities and more efficient tracking of radiation sources in Paraguay. In addition to the upgraded software, ARRN staff received hands-on training covering key regulatory functions, including the management of radiation sources and facilities, authorization, inspection and enforcement, occupational exposure, radiation events, reporting, statistics, system customization, user access and data backup. Practical exercises were tailored to Paraguay’s national regulatory framework and operational requirements.
