The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Radiation Sources Regulatory Partnership (RSRP) delivered a four-day workshop from September 10-13, 2024 with the Mauritius Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security Authority (RSNSA) in Port Louis, Mauritius on shielding calculations for LINACs. The workshop focused on detailed discussions and hands-on implementation of the basic principles and the specific methodology offered by NCRP Report No. 151, “Structural Shielding Design and Evaluation for Megavoltage X- and Gamma-Ray Radiotherapy Facilities,” to assist RSNSA with their regulatory oversight of LINAC facilities in the county. The workshop included the development of practical examples where the participants demonstrated the application of newly acquired knowledge.
